High Court campaign to fight chapel demolition fails

The High Court campaign by SAVE Britain’s Heritage to halt the proposed demolition of a Merseyside chapel has been unsuccessful.

Planning Resource writes:
Campaigners have failed in a final bid to prevent the demolition of a 110-year old chapel at Sefton in Merseyside after a judge ruled that the communities secretary was right to conclude that a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was not to required prior to approval for the demolition.

Lord Justice Elias became the third judge to reject the claim by SAVE Britain’s Heritage that the government was wrong not to require a full EIA prior to approval of demolition of The Orrell Chapel, Springwell Road, Sefton.
